How to fight Warlock

Beat Demonology Warlock

Threat Low12.0.130s cheat sheet

What they want to do

Call Dreadstalkers, send the Felguard, summon Demonic Tyrant, and Mortal Coil the peeler. They win one pet window in Solo Shuffle. They do not win a fair fight after it expires.

Main danger

Demonic Tyrant plus Mortal Coil. The pets hit as hard as another DPS, and Felguard Axe Toss interrupts the spell you needed to stop it.

Interrupt priority

  1. 1 Fear

Always first. A free Fear is a free Demonic Tyrant window. Dispel your partner if you cannot kick.

  2. 2 Summon Demonic Tyrant

Kick or stun the cast. If it lands, swap to crowd-controlling pets instead of training the warlock.

  3. 2 Felguard Axe Toss (on you)

You do not kick this — they interrupt you. Leave Felguard range or crowd-control the pet before you hard-cast.

Watch for

  • Call Dreadstalkers means Demonic Tyrant is next — wall or crowd-control pets before it lands.
  • Mortal Coil on the peeler as Demonic Tyrant comes out. Dispel the horror if pets are still hitting.
  • Demonic Gateway used to hide the Summon Demonic Tyrant cast. Kick the angle, not the first fake.
  • Felguard walking onto you for Axe Toss. Crowd-control the pet before you hard-cast.

Offensive cooldowns

  • Demonic Tyrant. Their kill window. Crowd-control pets, line the warlock, or already be in a wall. Do not train the cloth while the pets are free.
  • Call Dreadstalkers. Tyrant setup. If you see stalkers, Summon Demonic Tyrant is next — wall or crowd-control pets now.
  • Felguard. The extra body and the extra stun. Crowd-control it during Demonic Tyrant or Axe Toss eats your interrupt.
  • Demonbolt. The dump inside Demonic Tyrant. Do not spend your interrupt on this while Fear or Summon Demonic Tyrant is being cast.

Defensive cooldowns

  • Unending Resolve. The wall. Stop the swap onto the warlock while pets are still up. Keep chip; do not dump remaining cooldowns.
  • Dark Pact. Absorb that costs their health. Do not dump because their health dropped — the shield is still there.
  • Demonic Gateway. Hides the Summon Demonic Tyrant cast and resets after. Click it; do not chase the cloth through the gate.
  • Mortal Coil. Peel plus a small heal. Dispel the horror if pets are still hitting. Do not trinket Coil if Fear is still available.

Crowd control

  • Fear
  • Mortal Coil
  • Axe Toss (Felguard)
  • Howl of Terror
  • Demonic Gateway

Dispels

  • Fear, Howl of Terror, and Mortal Coil on your team are magic horrors — dispel them. Do not trinket Mortal Coil if Fear is still coming.
  • Crowd-control or kill pets during Demonic Tyrant. Dispelling the warlock does not stop the window.

Mobility

Demonic Gateway is the kit. The warlock is slow; the pets are not. Do not chase the cloth while Felguard is still on your healer. Click the gate; cut the landing, do not sprint the path.

Kill windows

  • After Demonic Tyrant expires and the pets are crowd-controlled or dead
  • Unending Resolve down and they Feared the wrong person
  • Summon Demonic Tyrant kicked — they just spent the round's cooldown

When to run

Demonic Tyrant is up, Felguard is free, and you have no crowd control for pets. Line the warlock. Do not greed the cloth.

When to attack

After Demonic Tyrant expires and the pets are crowd-controlled or dead. Unending Resolve down. After a wasted Mortal Coil. A kicked Summon Demonic Tyrant is a free window.

Common tricks

  • They hide the Summon Demonic Tyrant cast behind a pillar or Demonic Gateway. Kick the angle, not the first fake.
  • Felguard sits on the caster; Demonic Tyrant sits on the kill. Peel the pet or your interrupt never happens.
  • Mortal Coil first, Demonic Tyrant second. If you trinket Coil, you have nothing for the Fear.

Common mistakes against them

  • Training the warlock through Demonic Tyrant instead of crowd-controlling the pets.
  • Hard-casting in Felguard range so Axe Toss eats your interrupt.
  • Spending your interrupt on Demonbolt while Fear or Summon Demonic Tyrant is being cast.
  • Dumping a go into Unending Resolve while pets are still up.

30 second cheat sheet

kick
Kick Fear first, then Summon Demonic Tyrant. Do not spend the interrupt on Demonbolt. Leave Felguard range before you hard-cast, or Axe Toss locks you out.
watchFor
Call Dreadstalkers means Demonic Tyrant is next — that is the go you die to. Mortal Coil hits the peeler as it lands. They hide the Demonic Tyrant cast behind Demonic Gateway.
defensives
Stop your swap when Unending Resolve is up. Dark Pact is an absorb that costs their health — do not dump because they dipped. Click Demonic Gateway; do not chase it.
cc
Fear sets up Demonic Tyrant — kick it or magic-dispel. Mortal Coil horrors the peeler; dispel it if pets are still hitting. Felguard Axe Toss stuns you so your kick never happens.
killWindow
Go after Demonic Tyrant expires and the pets are crowd-controlled or dead. Unending Resolve should already be down. A kicked Summon Demonic Tyrant is a free window on the lock.
biggestMistake
Training the warlock through Demonic Tyrant instead of crowd-controlling the pets, or hard-casting in Felguard range so Axe Toss eats your interrupt.
