How to fight Evoker

Beat Devastation Evoker

Threat Low12.0.130s cheat sheet

What they want to do

Press Dragonrage, max-rank Fire Breath into Eternity Surge, then channel Disintegrate on the stunned or rooted target. Deep Breath is the second go and the peel. They win Solo Shuffle if you eat the breath path and let Hover reset every trade.

Main danger

Dragonrage overlapping Deep Breath. The breath path is the kill, not filler Pyre. Time Stop and Obsidian Scales make the first swap look free, then they fly out.

Interrupt priority

  1. 1 Disintegrate

Main channel. Kick it when Fire Breath is already out — that is the damage. Stun or line it if you cannot kick.

  2. 2 Fire Breath

Stop the empower if they are still charging it. Tip the Scales can make this instant, so look before you hold the interrupt.

  3. 3 Eternity Surge

Dragonrage follow-up. Kick or stun only if Disintegrate and Fire Breath are not available.

Watch for

  • Dragonrage overlapping Fire Breath and Eternity Surge on one target. Wall before Disintegrate, not after.
  • Deep Breath overlapping Dragonrage, aimed through the clump. Step out of the flight path.
  • Hover out of your stun, then Deep Breath on the landing. Cover where they land; do not chase the flight.
  • Tip the Scales making the next empower instant so your interrupt misses. If Fire Breath is instant, kick Disintegrate instead.

Offensive cooldowns

  • Dragonrage. Their kill window. Assume Fire Breath and Eternity Surge are coming with it. Wall or line before Disintegrate.
  • Fire Breath. Empower damage-over-time and essence. Dispel it. Do not let it sit through a stun. Stop a charging empower; Tip the Scales can make it instant.
  • Eternity Surge. Execute-style empower inside Dragonrage. Line it or already be in a wall.
  • Disintegrate. The channel that actually kills after the breaths land. Kick, stun, or line. Do not spend this interrupt while they are still empowering Fire Breath.
  • Deep Breath. Charge, damage, and crowd control in one path. Do not stand in it. This is also their peel.

Defensive cooldowns

  • Obsidian Scales. Big damage reduction. Stop the dump. Swap or wait; do not finish offensive cooldowns into it.
  • Renewing Blaze. Delayed heal. Purge it if you can; keep pressure if you cannot. It is not an immunity.
  • Time Stop. Full freeze. Stop your damage. Reposition for the exit like Ice Block.
  • Nullifying Shroud. Eats your first crowd control. Throw a cheap spell first, then the real stun. Do not open with your only Hex or Polymorph.
  • Hover. Their wall and their gap-closer. Roots often do nothing while it is up. Cover the landing; do not chase the flight.
  • Rescue. External peel. They yank a partner off your go or throw someone onto you for Deep Breath. Cover the landing.

Crowd control

  • Landslide
  • Deep Breath
  • Wing Buffet
  • Tail Swipe
  • Time Stop
  • Rescue displacement
  • Sleep Walk

Dispels

  • Fire Breath is a magic damage-over-time — dispel it off the kill target.
  • Purge Renewing Blaze if you have a magic purge. Sleep Walk is a disorient — do not trinket it if Deep Breath is still available.

Mobility

Hover is the spec. They fly over roots, then Deep Breath the landing. Rescue yanks a partner. Cut the landing angle; do not sprint the Hover path. Pillars beat their 25-yard Quell if you stop greed-casting.

Kill windows

  • Dragonrage is over and Obsidian Scales is down
  • Time Stop burned and Hover already used — they are a mail caster with a long empower global cooldown
  • After Deep Breath they land with no wall and no Hover

When to run

Dragonrage is up, Deep Breath is not spent, and you have no wall. Line the flight path. Do not greed melee uptime in the breath lane.

When to attack

Dragonrage over, Obsidian Scales down, Hover already burned. Stun the empower. After Deep Breath they often land with no wall. Finish the round — this is Low threat after the window.

Common tricks

  • They Hover to bait your stun, then Deep Breath the clump you just stacked. Cover the landing; do not restack.
  • Tip the Scales makes Fire Breath instant. If you held the interrupt for the empower, kick Disintegrate instead.
  • Rescue is a peel and a setup. They throw the partner onto you so Deep Breath has a line. Spread before the flight.

Common mistakes against them

  • Standing in Deep Breath.
  • Dumping your offensive cooldowns into Obsidian Scales or Time Stop.
  • Chasing Hover instead of covering where they land.
  • Kicking Disintegrate while they are still empowering Fire Breath.
  • Casting your first crowd control into Nullifying Shroud.
