How to fight Monk

Beat Mistweaver Monk

Threat Medium12.0.130s cheat sheet

What they want to do

Life Cocoon the first stun of the shuffle round, Revival the second, Paralysis the extra DPS so nobody stops the heal, and melee-weave so they are never a free backline. They win if you dump the first stun into the absorb and treat Revival as the end of the round.

Main danger

Life Cocoon eating a full stun window, plus Revival after you have already committed the second go. Paralysis on the peeler is how the heal actually finishes.

Interrupt priority

  1. 1 Paralysis

Kick or line this first. A free Paralysis on the extra DPS is a lost go. Never spend this interrupt on Vivify while Paralysis is being cast.

  2. 2 Vivify / Enveloping Mist

When Paralysis is down and they are stabilizing. These are the kickable heals. Revival is instant — do not hold the interrupt for it.

  3. 3 Revival (instant)

You cannot kick it. Crowd-control them before they press it. Sit the heal and the full dispel, then go again.

Watch for

  • Life Cocoon on the first stun — the absorb eats the whole window. Swap or bleed it; do not finish offensive cooldowns into the shield.
  • Revival after you already committed the second go. Sit the team heal and the full dispel, then press again.
  • Paralysis on the peeler so nobody stops the heal. Kick or line it before you dump.
  • Leg Sweep into Ring of Peace to knock you off the kill. Do not stand in the ring.

Offensive cooldowns

  • Fistweaving. They melee to heal. Do not treat them as a backline caster. Crowd-control them in melee or they keep healing while hitting you.

Defensive cooldowns

  • Life Cocoon. Absorb on the kill target. Swap or bleed it. Do not dump the first stun of the round into a fresh Cocoon.
  • Revival. Instant team heal and a full dispel. You cannot kick it. Crowd-control them before they press it, sit the reset, then go again.
  • Fortifying Brew. Personal damage reduction. Keep chip pressure unless Life Cocoon or Revival is also up.
  • Diffuse Magic. Magic damage reduction, sometimes a reflect-style stop. Casters stop or swap; physical pressure still works.

Crowd control

  • Paralysis
  • Leg Sweep
  • Ring of Peace

Dispels

  • Paralysis is magic — kick it or dispel it off the extra DPS. Do not trinket Paralysis if Leg Sweep is still coming.
  • Revival is a full team dispel. Do not leave damage-over-time effects as your only pressure after it.

Mobility

Roll, Transcendence, Tiger's Lust. Transcendence ports them back to a spirit — cover the spirit, do not drop combat. Tiger's Lust frees a snare on them or a partner. Cut the Roll angle with a root; do not chase the port.

Kill windows

  • Life Cocoon and Revival are both used
  • They wasted Paralysis on the wrong target
  • Caught in the open without Fortifying Brew

When to run

You swap, you do not run — unless they Paralysis the peeler and Leg Sweep you. If Life Cocoon is on the kill, stop the dump and wait the absorb.

When to attack

After Life Cocoon. After Revival. When they wasted Paralysis on the wrong target. Catch them in the open without Fortifying Brew.

Common tricks

  • Life Cocoon is on the first stun every round. Force it with cheap pressure, then stun.
  • They melee-weave to stay in line of sight on purpose. If you line them, they walk into melee and keep healing.
  • Ring of Peace is the peel after Leg Sweep. Walk back onto the kill; do not retarget whoever got knocked.

Common mistakes against them

  • Dumping your first stun into Life Cocoon.
  • Interrupting Vivify while Paralysis is being cast.
  • Spending two full goes into Revival as if the first dump was the plan.
  • Caster-dumping into Diffuse Magic.
