How to fight Demon Hunter
Beat Vengeance Demon Hunter
What they want to do
Sigil of Misery on the Blitz node, Fiery Brand the melee who is hitting them, then Fel Devastation while Darkness covers the pit. They win by making your damage miss, not by a Havoc Metamorphosis Eye Beam. Fiery Brand plus Darkness is the wall. Solo Shuffle almost never fields a Vengeance demon hunter — treat this as Blitz and battleground advice, and play them as a peeler, not a Havoc, if you get a rare arena tank.
Main danger
Fiery Brand reducing the damage you deal into them, then Darkness so melee swings hit air. Fel Devastation is a heal channel that also hurts; if you let it finish into Fiery Brand they refill. They do not have Blur or a Havoc Metamorphosis kill. They stall the node, they do not end the round.
Interrupt priority
1 Fel Devastation
Channel. Stun it. This heals them. Do not let it finish into Fiery Brand.
1 Their healer, not the demon hunter
Vengeance does not cast the kill. Kick the healer they Imprisoned. Do not greed a cast at Disrupt range on the node.
2 Imprison
Kick the cast if you see it. A free Imprison on the peeler is a lost node. An already-landed Imprison cannot be kicked.
Watch for
- Fiery Brand on the person hitting them — your damage into the tank just got a tax. Stop the dump or swap.
- Darkness dropped on the pit or flag so melee swings miss. Walk out of the puddle or switch to magic.
- Sigil of Misery at your feet before Infernal Strike lands. The fear is on a delay; watch the sigil, not the leap.
- Fel Devastation overlapping Fiery Brand so the heal actually sticks. Stun the channel.
Offensive cooldowns
- Fel Devastation. Cone channel, damage plus heal. Stun it or line it. Letting it finish is how they outlast a stacked press on the node.
- Fiery Brand. DoT on you, damage reduction for them against you. Do not dump offensive cooldowns into a fresh Brand. Wait it or swap; hitting it is how the node fight goes long.
- Soul Cleave. Spend and self-heal. Instant. You cannot kick it. Keep chip pressure unless Fiery Brand or Darkness is also up.
- Sigil of Flame. Ground fire and fury. Step out. This is pressure on a node, not a kill setup — Sigil of Misery is the crowd-control sigil.
- Infernal Strike. Leap onto the flag or into the clump. They land, then Sigil of Misery or Chaos Nova. Cover the landing; do not chase the jump.
Defensive cooldowns
- Fiery Brand. The Vengeance wall. Damage you deal to them is cut while the brand sits. Stop the dump or swap off the branded trade.
- Darkness. Team dodge pit. Melee leave. Casters keep hitting. Do not stand in it and swing.
- Demon Spikes. Short armor and parry. Chip, do not smash. This is not Blur; it expires fast. Wait the spikes, then go.
- Metamorphosis (tank). Defensive leap and pad, not a Havoc damage Metamorphosis. Sit the wall or swap. Do not treat the wings as an Eye Beam kill.
- Soul Cleave / Fel Devastation heals. They refill off souls if you keep hitting without a stun. Stun the Fel Devastation channel; do not pad their cleave.
Crowd control
- Sigil of Misery
- Imprison
- Chaos Nova
- Sigil of Silence
Dispels
- Sigil of Misery is a magic fear — dispel it off the peeler if you can or the node is empty.
- Fiery Brand is magic. Rip it if you have a magic dispel; otherwise stop dumping into the branded target.
Mobility
Infernal Strike is the spec. They leap onto the node, Sigil of Misery the landing, then leap out. Do not sprint the jump path — cover the flag. They re-enter for free. Pillars beat Disrupt range if you stop greed-casting. This is not Vengeful Retreat kite; it is a slam onto the objective.
Kill windows
- Fiery Brand is down, and you are not standing in Darkness.
- Demon Spikes expired and tank Metamorphosis already used.
- After Fel Devastation is stunned with no heal — they are committed and often out of a wall.
When to run
When Fiery Brand is on you and Darkness is on the floor. Melee leaves. Casters can stay if Fiery Brand is not on them. Do not stay in the pit to swing.
When to attack
When Fiery Brand is down and you are not standing in Darkness. After a missed Sigil of Misery. After Fel Devastation is stunned with no heal. Casters keep hitting through Demon Spikes; melee waits the spikes.
Common tricks
- They Fiery Brand the melee, Darkness the room — they want you to hit both. Leave the puddle. Fiery Brand is the damage reduction; Darkness is the miss.
- Sigil of Misery is on a delay. They drop it, then Infernal Strike in. Watch the sigil, not the leap.
- Tank Metamorphosis is a wall and a leap, not a Havoc damage window. Do not blow a defensive looking for Eye Beam.
Common mistakes against them
- Dumping a full damage window into Fiery Brand.
- Meleeing Darkness.
- Letting Fel Devastation finish.
- Playing them like Havoc and waiting for Blur or an Eye Beam Metamorphosis.

- kick
- Stun Fel Devastation — it heals them, do not let it finish into Fiery Brand. Kick their healer. Do not greed a cast into Disrupt on the node.
- watchFor
- Fiery Brand on whoever is hitting them taxes your damage. Darkness on a Blitz flag makes melee miss. Sigil of Misery at your feet before Infernal Strike lands.
- defensives
- Stop dumping into Fiery Brand or swap. Melee leaves Darkness; casters keep hitting. Chip Demon Spikes, then go. Tank Metamorphosis is a wall, not a Havoc kill.
- cc
- Sigil of Misery is a delayed magic fear — dispel the peeler or the node is empty. Kick Imprison on the peeler. Chaos Nova plants the clump — spread before it.
- killWindow
