How to fight Paladin

Beat Holy Paladin

Threat Medium12.0.130s cheat sheet

What they want to do

Park Beacon of Light and Blessing of Sacrifice on the partner you are hitting, Aura Mastery the first stun of the Solo Shuffle round, then Divine Shield the kill and Hammer of Justice the melee that connected. They win if you dump a full go into the ramp and treat Divine Shield as the end of the round.

Main danger

Blessing of Sacrifice overlapping Aura Mastery so your first stun heals for nothing, plus Divine Shield on the kill target — not on the paladin. Hammer of Justice on the connecting melee is how your interrupt never lands on Repentance.

Interrupt priority

  1. 1 Repentance if talented

Always first. A free Repentance on the extra DPS is a 2v1 while Beacon of Light and Blessing of Sacrifice keep the kill target full. This is how you fight the healer — interrupt the incapacitate, not a Holy Shock.

  2. 2 Holy Light

Only when Repentance is down or not talented. This is the hard-cast top-off that wins the trade after Aura Mastery drops. Do not spend this interrupt while Repentance is coming.

  3. 3 Flash of Light

Panic heal. Interrupt it only if Repentance and Holy Light are not in play and they are trying to live without a wall.

Watch for

  • Divine Shield on the kill target the moment the first stun lands — they immune the partner, not themselves. Stop damage on that target.
  • Aura Mastery overlapping Blessing of Sacrifice so the Beacon of Light target does not move — sit or swap; do not start a go into both.
  • Blessing of Protection on the physical kill, then Hammer of Justice on you — melee swap or dispel, then expect the stun.
  • Lay on Hands after you already spent a wall into the ramp — the go is over if it lands.

Offensive cooldowns

  • Blessing of Sacrifice. Healing ramp on the Beacon of Light target. Do not start offensive cooldowns into a fresh Blessing of Sacrifice. Force it with cheap pressure or wait it out.
  • Beacon of Light. Every Holy Shock and Word of Glory double-dips the Beacon partner. The person with Beacon of Light is rarely the free kill while Blessing of Sacrifice is up.
  • Holy Shock. Instant heal and instant pressure. You cannot interrupt it. This is how they sit in melee and still top the Beacon of Light. Crowd-control them or swap.
  • Word of Glory. Big instant off-heal. Same rule as Holy Shock — crowd-control them or swap; do not hold an interrupt for an instant.
  • Holy Light / Flash of Light. The actual casts. Holy Light is the one you interrupt after Repentance is gone. Flash of Light is the panic button.

Defensive cooldowns

  • Divine Shield. Full stop on whoever they press it on. In Solo Shuffle that is usually the kill, not the paladin. Stop your damage. Reposition for the exit.
  • Aura Mastery. Team wall. Sit the go or swap. Hitting through Aura Mastery plus Blessing of Sacrifice is how Medium-threat rounds go long.
  • Lay on Hands. Full heal. The go is over if it lands. Save a stop for this, not for Holy Shock.
  • Blessing of Protection. Physical immunity on an ally. Casters keep going; melee swap or dispel it.
  • Blessing of Sacrifice. Transfers damage onto the paladin. If the partner is not dying, swap onto them — Blessing of Sacrifice is a two-way street.
  • Divine Protection. Personal damage reduction. Keep chip pressure unless Divine Shield, Aura Mastery, or Lay on Hands is also up.

Crowd control

  • Hammer of Justice
  • Blinding Light
  • Repentance
  • Turn Evil vs undead/demons

Dispels

  • Blessing of Protection is magic — rip it off the kill target or you melee a ghost.
  • They Cleanse magic, poison, and disease. Do not leave a Polymorph sitting if the paladin is free.

Mobility

Divine Steed, Blessing of Freedom. They are a plate healer, not a rogue — slow without the horse. Root Divine Steed, do not chase Blessing of Freedom in a straight line. They walk into melee on purpose so Holy Shock and Word of Glory have a target; cutting the angle matters more than out-running them.

Kill windows

  • Divine Shield, Lay on Hands, and Aura Mastery are all down
  • Blessing of Sacrifice expired and they are in the open without Divine Protection
  • After they Blessing of Protection the wrong person, or Blessing of Sacrifice onto a paladin you can actually swap to

When to run

Aura Mastery is up, Blessing of Sacrifice is rolling on the Beacon of Light target, and you just ate Hammer of Justice. Line. Do not greed melee uptime into a Divine Shield that is still available.

When to attack

After Divine Shield. When Aura Mastery is down and Lay on Hands is already spent. When Blessing of Sacrifice expired and they wasted Hammer of Justice on the wrong melee. Casters still hit through Blessing of Protection.

Common tricks

  • They Divine Shield the kill target, not themselves. Your damage looks fine until the partner walks out immune — stop on that target the moment Divine Shield lands.
  • Hammer of Justice is for the melee that connected, not a kill-setup stun. You get stunned, Repentance goes on the peeler, the go lives.
  • Blessing of Sacrifice plus Aura Mastery is the first stun of every round. Press offensive cooldowns on the second attempt, after both are down.

Common mistakes against them

  • Training the partner they just Divine Shielded.
  • Kicking Holy Light while Repentance is being cast.
  • Dumping a full go into Aura Mastery plus Blessing of Sacrifice on the Beacon of Light target.
  • Meleeing a Blessing of Protection and refusing to swap or dispel.
