How to fight Shaman

Beat Restoration Shaman

Threat Medium12.0.130s cheat sheet

What they want to do

Grounding Totem the first crowd control of the round, Spirit Link Totem the stun, then top with Healing Tide Totem and Earthen Wall Totem while Wind Shear sits on your healer. They win Solo Shuffle when your peel hits a totem and Spirit Link Totem makes the stun window look like chip damage.

Main danger

Spirit Link Totem overlapping your stun, plus Grounding Totem eating the crowd control that was supposed to stop the peel. Healing Tide Totem is a totem — if you leave it up, the round resets.

Interrupt priority

  1. 1 Hex

Always first, even if they are moving with Spirit Walker's Grace. A free Hex on the extra DPS is a free Spirit Link Totem go. Curse-dispel your partner if you cannot kick.

  2. 2 Healing Wave / Healing Surge

When Hex is down and they are hard-casting to stabilize outside Spirit Link Totem. Healing Surge is the panic; Healing Wave is the ramp. Never kick these while Hex is in the air.

  3. 3 Chain Heal

Only if Hex and Healing Surge are not available and the team is stacked. Kill Healing Tide Totem instead of kicking this.

Watch for

  • Grounding Totem dropped the moment you press your first crowd control. Throw a cheap instant first, then the real Hex or stun.
  • Spirit Link Totem as your stun lands — damage looks like chip inside the link. Swap or sit the duration.
  • Healing Tide Totem after Spirit Link Totem. Kill the totem; do not chase the shaman.
  • Wind Shear on your healer while Capacitor Totem sits at their feet.

Offensive cooldowns

  • Spirit Link Totem. Team damage split. Swap or sit the duration — dumping into Spirit Link Totem is how Solo Shuffle rounds go long.
  • Healing Tide Totem. Team heal from a totem. Kill it. Kicking the shaman while Healing Tide Totem ticks is a waste.
  • Earthen Wall Totem. Absorb pad on one target. Bleed it or swap; do not finish a stun into a fresh wall.
  • Riptide / Earth Shield uptime. Heal-over-time and absorb engine. Purge Earth Shield if you have a magic purge; keep chip pressure either way.
  • Healing Stream Totem. Background heal. Lower priority than Healing Tide Totem — still smash it if you are standing on it.

Defensive cooldowns

  • Spirit Link Totem. External team damage reduction. Stop the go or swap off the linked target. Do not dump a full stun into the link.
  • Astral Shift. Personal wall. They can still Hex and drop Capacitor Totem through it — sit damage, not peel.
  • Earthen Wall Totem. Absorb. Bleed or swap. Do not spend a full stun into a fresh wall.
  • Healing Tide Totem. Kill the totem. Do not treat Healing Tide Totem as a cast you can kick.
  • Grounding Totem. Eats one harmful spell. Bait it with a cheap instant, then the real Hex or stun. Do not open with your only crowd control.
  • Spirit Walker's Grace. Cast-while-moving. They Hex or Healing Surge on the kite. Kick the cast; roots still work.

Crowd control

  • Hex
  • Capacitor Totem
  • Thunderstorm
  • Wind Shear
  • Earthgrab Totem if talented
  • Lightning Lasso if talented

Dispels

  • Hex is a curse — curse-dispel your partner; do not trinket it for Capacitor Totem.
  • Purge Earth Shield and Riptide if you have a magic purge. Healing Tide Totem and Spirit Link Totem are totems, not buffs — smash them.

Mobility

Spirit Walk, Ghost Wolf, Thunderstorm knock. They kite in Ghost Wolf, then Spirit Walker's Grace-cast Hex. Cut wolf angles with roots and terrain; do not chase into Capacitor Totem. Spirit Walk breaks snares so they re-enter — re-root after Spirit Walk, not before.

Kill windows

  • Spirit Link Totem and Grounding Totem both down, and they are not sitting on Earthen Wall Totem
  • After Healing Tide Totem is smashed and Astral Shift is already spent
  • They Hexed the wrong target and Capacitor Totem is on cooldown — go now

When to run

Spirit Link Totem is up on your kill target, Grounding Totem is still available, and you have no second crowd control. Swap. Hitting into the link is how the round resets.

When to attack

Spirit Link Totem and Grounding Totem down. Healing Tide Totem already killed. They are not sitting on Earthen Wall Totem. Astral Shift already spent. Hard crowd-control them in caster form, not Ghost Wolf.

Common tricks

  • They Grounding Totem the first crowd control every round. Throw a junk instant, then the real Hex or stun.
  • Capacitor Totem often lands as you trinket Hex — look at your healer's feet, not the shaman.
  • Healing Tide Totem is a totem. The shaman will Spirit Walk out while you stare at them; smash the totem.

Common mistakes against them

  • Casting your first crowd control into Grounding Totem.
  • Dumping a full stun go into Spirit Link Totem.
  • Kicking Healing Surge while Hex is mid-cast.
  • Leaving Healing Tide Totem up because you were chasing Ghost Wolf.
