How to fight Monk

Beat Windwalker Monk

Threat High12.0.130s cheat sheet

What they want to do

Leg Sweep into Storm, Earth, and Fire and Touch of Death windows while Touch of Karma is available to punish your damage. They win Solo Shuffle when you dump into Touch of Karma and die to the reflect.

Main danger

Touch of Karma reflecting a full offensive cooldown back onto you, plus Storm, Earth, and Fire cleave after Leg Sweep. Touch of Death executes when you sit at the health threshold.

Interrupt priority

  1. 1 Their healer, not the monk

Do not spend the default kick on the Windwalker. Kick their healer. They barely cast the kill.

  2. 2 Paralysis

Paralysis is a cast, usually on your healer. If it is in the air and their healer is already covered, interrupt it. Otherwise dispel it — it is magic.

  3. 3 Channeled ability (if one is actually in the air)

Save a kick for a channel only if one is actually happening. Default kick is still their healer.

Watch for

  • Touch of Karma pressed before your damage window — stop hitting or the reflect kills you. Stun them instead of trading.
  • Leg Sweep into Storm, Earth, and Fire. Do not stack; the copies hit everyone in melee.
  • Touch of Death execute at about 15% health. Use a defensive or line before you sit at that threshold, not after they press it.
  • Fortifying Brew overlapping Touch of Karma. Chip is fine; do not dump into either.

Offensive cooldowns

  • Storm, Earth, and Fire. Cleave window. Do not stack on the kill target, and do not ignore the copies — they are still hitting you. Spread, then stun the monk, not a copy.
  • Strike of the Windlord. Burst inside Storm, Earth, and Fire or after Leg Sweep. Use a defensive for this overlap, not for filler damage.
  • Touch of Death. Execute when you are at the health threshold (about 15%). Use a defensive or line before you sit there. Walking around low after Touch of Karma expires is how this lands.
  • Invoke Xuen. Tiger pet pressure. Crowd-control the tiger so it is not free damage on the kill target while you stare at the monk.

Defensive cooldowns

  • Touch of Karma. Stop hitting them or the damage comes back onto you. Stun or crowd-control them instead of trading into the reflect.
  • Fortifying Brew. Large damage reduction. Keep chip pressure; do not dump offensive cooldowns into it.
  • Diffuse Magic. Magic damage reduction, and it can send magic back. Casters stop or swap. Physical still works.
  • Dampen Harm. Big-hit damage reduction. Chip is fine; do not smash your heaviest ability into it.

Crowd control

  • Leg Sweep
  • Paralysis
  • Ring of Peace
  • Clash if talented

Dispels

  • Paralysis is magic — dispel it off your healer. A free Paralysis is a 2v1 while they Leg Sweep you.
  • Touch of Karma is not a buff you purge to make hitting safe. Stop hitting, or stun them.

Mobility

Roll, Flying Serpent Kick, and Transcendence. They re-engage for free and the Transcendence port resets position. Do not drop combat thinking they are gone; the spirit is still on the floor. Cut Roll angles with roots, not a straight-line kite.

Kill windows

  • Touch of Karma and Fortifying Brew are both down.
  • After Storm, Earth, and Fire copies are dead, or they wasted Leg Sweep on the wrong clump.
  • When they press Touch of Karma too early and you can go again after it expires.

When to run

When Touch of Karma is up and you already pressed offensive cooldowns. Stop hitting. Stun them instead of trading into the reflect.

When to attack

After Touch of Karma and Fortifying Brew are both down. After a missed Leg Sweep. After they press Touch of Karma too early and you can go again.

Common tricks

  • Into melee, Touch of Karma is their answer to your damage window. They want you to keep hitting. Stun them or walk off; do not finish auto-attacks into it.
  • Paralysis on your healer is as important as Leg Sweep on you. Kick or dispel the Paralysis or the Sweep is a 2v1.
  • Transcendence ports them out of Smoke Bomb, grips, and roots. Cover the spirit on the floor; that is where they return.

Common mistakes against them

  • Dumping your offensive cooldowns into Touch of Karma.
  • Stacking for Storm, Earth, and Fire.
  • Sitting at Touch of Death range at low health without a defensive.
  • Letting Paralysis land on your healer without a kick or dispel.

30 second cheat sheet

kick
Do not interrupt the Windwalker. Kick their healer. They barely cast — save your interrupt unless a channeled ability is actually in the air.
watchFor
Touch of Karma before your go reflects the dump back at you. Leg Sweep into Storm, Earth, and Fire is the kill. Touch of Death executes at 15% — wall before that.
defensives
Stop hitting Touch of Karma or you kill yourself — stun them instead. Fortifying Brew is a big DR; keep chip, do not dump. Casters sit or swap Diffuse Magic. Chip Dampen Harm.
cc
Leg Sweep is the stun that starts Storm, Earth, and Fire. Paralysis on your healer is magic — kick or dispel it. Ring of Peace knocks you off the target — walk back in.
killWindow
Go when Touch of Karma and Fortifying Brew are both down. After they miss Leg Sweep, or after they press Touch of Karma too early and you can go again.
biggestMistake
Dumping your offensive cooldowns into Touch of Karma, then dying to the reflect while they Leg Sweep your healer.
